Arashi... Arashi... for dream!

  • Jan. 26th, 2009 at 4:39 AM
So finally I was able to create a livejournal account. It's not that I don't know how... I just don't have the time to create one (despite the fact that it only takes a few minutes) and I don't think I'd be able to keep this account alive and kickin'.

And since today is the celebration for the Chinese New Year, I decided to officially start posting here for luck! XD

Nevertheless, here I am with yet another blog about my random rants although this time this account is going to focus on (as much as possible) one thing only...and guess what that is... *points to the post's subject*

That's right!

I'll try my best to fill this journal with ARASHI rabu-rabu ^_____^ !

Similar to the thousands of Arashi fangirls out there, I WAS JUN-BAITED. Seriously, I think 90% of Arashi fans are Jun-baited. I saw Jun from a local (dubbed) broadcast of Gokusen and fell head over heels for his uber cool hairdo which up to this day is still my favorite hairstyle of Jun. Though I did not actually become a fan of the dorama (not until now), I got curious at Jun and used my googling powers in search of him.

I landed in article in Wikipedia, and learned that he's a member of a boyband!. I instantly went: "What?! Shin Sawada -- that brooding jerk is a member of a singing-dancing idol group?!" I learned of the other members of Arashi but paid less...very less attention actually because the picture Wikipedia had of them is so small that I barely recognize any of them, (even Jun) and the caption did not really help.
As I was not really interested at boybands at that time, and because I was not a regular audience of Gokusen, Jun was instantly forced waaa~y far at the back of my mind. There even came a point when I admired Shun Oguri more than him (though I took note of both their birthdays ^^)! I liked Jun, but I kept on dismissing the fact that he's 1/5 of a boyband. I mean, I think I am too old for boybands.

After being quite dormant, Jun become active in my mind again when there came the local (dubbed again, of course) broadcast of Hana Yori Dango. Being, a self-proclaimed Japanese-enthusiast, I tried to watch the dorama since both Jun and Shun are there... but HATED it owing to Jun's ridiculuous curly hair! (dear Jun fans: please don't kill me). Despite the ridiculous-looking Jun, HanaDan caught my attention, all thanks to the very catchy theme song: ♪ Machi ni ai no uta nagare hajimetara.... ♪

Turning my google powers on, I downloaded the song, Wish which turned out to be an Arashi song. I instantly fell in love with the song (note how many times will I fall in love in this post) and thought to give Arashi a second chance. This second chance introduced me to their ever-so-famous song, A-Ra-Shi. I felt so hyped up by the two songs that I LimeWired all Arashi songs I could find like hell! I loved the Arashi songs that I've downloaded especially Hitomi no Naka no Galaxy. Arashi captured me with their upbeat songs and had me spellbinded by their ballads. As I listen more to their songs, I was unware that I was slowly being sucked into the Arashi world.

With their wonderful songs, I become more and more interested in Arashi. I went to youtube and watched their PVs, the first being "A-Ra-Shi". Since it's their debut video, I had difficulty distinguishing one member from another. All I could remember was their multicolored jackets and their flawless dancing and acrobatics. I read the comments from those who have watched the video and found out the names of the other four members that make up Arashi apart from JUN: AIBA, NINO, SHO, and OHNO. Though people pointed out each member by the color of their jackets, I still find them hard to distinguish from one another. I also think that Ohno's name is ridiculous. *hides from Ohno fans* C'mon, when you first hear his name, doesn't that make you think: "Oh no... it's Ohno!"

While I'm on a total Arashi-hunting mood, I watched another PV: Tomadoi Nagara. Now this PV did it. This is the video that made a huge impact on my Arashi fandom. Though it's not really very lively nor colorful nor happy compared to their other videos, I love it. It is in this video that I was finally able to distinguish one member from another, though I hd a bit of a trouble differentiating Aiba and Sho (hey, it's SakurAiba!) but what's even more important is that THIS VIDEO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING ME AN OHNO-FAN...and Oh no indeed,  THIS VIDEO MADE ME FALL IN LOVE WITH OHNO!!!♥♥♥ Though some...or a lot... of people hated Ohno's looks in that video (sadly, people kept on badgering on his hair), I DEFINITELY LOVE HIM! I love his voice, I love his solo part (♪ Kotoba ni dekinai hodo... ♪), I love his hair (to which some fans won't agree to), I love his cuteness >__< and I definitely...absolutely love his hands! Have you looked closely at his hands in that video?! They're so beautiful...♥♥♥

And the rest, as they say, is history. I watched their videos one by one and for every video I watch, I love them more and more (and more definitely Ohno ^^). I loved them despite the flashy clothes and girly dance. To hell with being too old for boybands!

Around September 2007, for the first time, I downloaded (because I can't afford to buy online) their single, Happiness... and it's happiness indeed! This is the start of my manic Arashi-stalking. I've been following them from the release of the PV, the release of their single, their performances in Music Station (I downloaded those episodes just so I could watch it...we don't have Animax, damn the cable provider!) and flailing at their moves. I've been totally hooked up on them to the point of somehow influencing some of my classmates (2 to be exact ^^). After Happiness, I've downloaded their succeeding songs: singles and albums and never got disappointed.

As time goes, I learn more and more things about Arashi. I've learned of Ohmiya SK. At first, I was really...uhm...shocked at the things they do--not only Ohmiya but with the other members as well. I've seen videos with them dancing like sissies, butt-touching, and even KISSING! (wheter real or not, what the heck) plus they always have this colorful, shiny, weird wardrobe at live performances (with feather boas and all!). There were a lot of times that I cringe at the sight of them doing such things and my friend and I were so convinced that they were gay. It's a good thing I'm actually gay-friendly. I mean, I have nothing against them and I totally love them ^^ if it so happens that Arashi is gay, then there's no prob. In the end, they're not gay, they just love doing those things, fanservice perhaps plus the idea that they've been friends for ages, so they're now very close to each other to do such things. Eventually, I got used to their antics and actually loved them for that!

Out of love for Arashi, there came a point when I would listen to just their songs all day. In fact, my mp4 player only contains their songs and no other artists! Because of this, I learned how to distinguish their voices one from the other: Nino has the high-pitched voice, Sho has the low voice, Jun has the somewhat high-pitched nasal voice (I really don't have the words to describe his voice, I just know), Aiba has the cute, very nasal voice, and of course, Ohno has the most wonderful voice of all. Hey, I'm not being biased (well, maybe somewhat...) but he wouldn't be singing most of the solos, bridges, falsettos if not for his magnificent voice. Since then, I developed this habit of identifying who's singing whenever I listen to their songs.

I have not only been addicted to their songs but to their shows, dramas, and movies as well. I've watched the movies which starred the five of them: Pikanchi Life is Hard Dakedo Happy, Pika☆☆nchi Life is Hard Dakara Happy, and Kiiroi Namida and loved them more and more. Most of the Jdoramas I've watched would have one (or two) of the members as cast: Stand Up!!, Haikei, Chihiue-sama, Gokusen, Yamada Taro Monogatari, Kisarazu Cats Eye, Bambino, Hana Yori Dango, Ryuusei no Kizuna, Uta no Oniisan, and of course Maou which is so far my favorite Jdorama. I also love their variety shows. Though I have watched only a few episodes and mostly just video clips (we don't have Japanese channels on our cable, dammit!), I definitely enjoyed them especially Arashi no Shukudai-kun.

I also became addicted to watching short clips on youtube and I'm really frustrated that I don't understand Japanese (and now I'm trying to do self-study) because I've been missing a lot...and I do mean a LOOOOOOT based from what I've seen in their shows like A no Arashi (and all the other "__ no Arashi shows" ), Mago Mago Arashi, and VS Arashi. I've subsribed to most of the Arashi uploaders in youtube.

Aside from getting hooked up from their variety shows and doramas, I've also been hooked on their concerts! Actually, back from my younger years, I have always been a boyband fanatic (but let's not talk about them anymore -__-) but as I grew older, I have also seemed to outgrown the "pop generation" but not until Arashi came into my life. I started watching their concerts (from the internet of course, though I would want to see them live of course), but at first thier outfits really weirded me out. I'm not really used to seeing guys wearing too colorful and flashy clothes (combined with their "dance" ^^) but in the end I got used to it and in fact their concert outfits were always the ones that I look forward to whenever I watch them.

Another thing that I've grown accustomed to upon my love for Arashi is my tendency to associate colors for each of them. Every fan in Arashi world probably knows that Red is for Sho... Yellow is for Nino... Green is for Aiba... Blue is for Ohno... Violet is for Jun. Since then, everything I see, own, buy, I always think of the members represented by the colors. I smile whenever I see, let's say, mugs that come in Arashi colors...or shirts that come in red, yellow, green, blue, and violet...or...well, you get the picture. I also have the tendency to say that "Today is ___-day" in reference to what color my clothes are. I don't know who conceptualized the color-coding thing, but I think it kinda suits them perfectly. I don't know if it's just me or what but I think their colors best represent them...or their personality. It's kinda hard to explain but I hope you get what I mean.

I still have a lot of things to say about my love for Arashi (like the time when I had my hair cut to look like Ohno's in Maou) but I don't know how to put everything here. Let's just say that in present, I still love Arashi. I still watch, listen, laugh, dream of them. I'm glad of their existence, they gave me a unique sense of happiness.

Let's
spread the ARASHI rabu-
rabu!!!

So guys, if we share the same madness, please add me as your friend. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu! ^^
